Sims Invites Seniors for Health Fair and Coat Give-a-Way

CHICAGO – State Rep. Elgie Sims, D-Chicago, is partnering with state Sen. Donne Trotter and Cook County Commissioner Stanley Moore to host a coat give-a-way and health resource fair on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at 10:00am at the Tuley Park Field House, 501 East 90th Place in Chicago.

“Too many of our neighbors face the brutal winter without the protection they need to stay healthy,” Sims said. “To help those in need, please stop by for a free dental screening, flu shots and a free coat for children and those 55 and older.”

Sims is co-hosting the event to ensure community seniors have a warm coat for the Chicago winter. The meeting will also include a health resource fair that provides additional services including free Lifeline assistance for eligible Illinois residents, dental screenings, and flu shots. The event is sponsored by Walgreens and Access Wireless. There will also be a special appearance by Santa for the holiday season.

The event is free and open to the public. Children up to age 17 and residents 55 and over can pick up a new or gently used coat at no cost. The coat giveaway is based on a first come, first served basis and participants must show proof of age.
